At the border of Kyrgyzstan with China on lake Issyk Kul there is the peak Pobeda of 7, 439 meters high. It is better visited by travelers on tours, especially with car rent. In the former Soviet Union the peak was the highest one in comparison with other mountain peaks on the territory of modern Kyrgyzstan. The peak is about 3 km of vertical headwall and has a border of the Zvezdochka Ice. Being the border with China, it is named Tomur Peak. The expeditions of Pyotr Semyonov - Tian-Shansky during his tours in Kyrgyzstan documented the peak as the peak Khan Tengri, as he was confused and mistaken it by the shape of pyramid. The peak was given name in honor of the victory in the Second World War in 1946.
During the period of Soviet Powers many people tried to be at the top of the peak. The Soviet Union team vaulted it in 1938. Teams from Kazakhstan tried to do the same in a tour along the Zvezdochka Ice in 1955. There are strong winds in Kyrgyzstan mountains and the Kazakh team didn't manage to vault the top. They went back at the height of 6000 m the team decided to return with 12 people survived. Due to this fact the reputation of mountain is not good for tours.
