Kazakhstan life: Tour 6

Day 1: Almaty - Issyk Lake - Almaty  
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to Issyk gorge. In course of the Kazakhstan life: Tour 6 your road will go along the Kuldja tract. This area is prominent due to be route of the trade caravans. On the way to it you will have a break to visit the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "ISSYK", where you will be able to see the items dedicated to the history and culture of the Saka period, including a copy of Golden Man and golden items, ancient ceramics, weapon, elements of horse equipment, as well as the model of Saka burial mound. After it you will continue your travel to reach the altitude of 1756 meters above sea level. Upon arrival you will see the breathtaking view of the water surface of alpine lake Issyk. This wonderful lake is located in the Issyk gorge. You will be amazed to know that this lake appeared due to the powerful landslide that also resulted in formation of the natural dam the height of which is 300 meters. Afrter enjoy the peaceful time and listen to the natural disaster of 1963 you will drive back to the Southern capital of Kazakhstan. Night is in the hotel.

Day 2: Almaty - Altyn Emel
Today you will have a morning drive to the place that is famous in tours to Kazakhstan, Altyn Emel National Park. This area is well known due to the wonderful Singing Dune the height of which is 120 meters and a length of about 3 km. You will be able to see this prominent sight of the travel in one of the corners of the Altyn-Emel National Park. Due to the pure sand and windy weather you will be able to hear the sound that resembles the organ music while in stormy weather you will hear drum sounds. On the top of the Singing Dunes you will witness the breathtaking panorama of the surroundings. Be prepared to witness the Ili River in the south and purple mountains of Sogety and Boguty that stays behind of Ketmen ridge. On the west you will see the Big Kalkan and the Small Kalkan - from the east. In the north you will be impressed by the view of violet-blue ridge of Jungar Alatau mountains, Chulak mountain, Matai and Altyn-Emel are visible. If the weather is dry and windy you will hear the song of the dunes for few kilometers. Drive back to Almaty. Overnight is in a hotel.

Day 3: Altyn Emel
In course of the tour you will travel to explore the famous Katutau and Aktau mountains. Upon arrival you will witness the Katutau Mountains or Harsh Mountains that are known as badly ruined mountains that can be easily break by some force. But it is also known due to the preserved volcanic outputs. You will see fancy shapes of rocks that were made by wind and water and time. It is interesting to note that Sedimentary rock of the bottom of the ancient Tethys Ocean is preserved there. The environment resulted made the form of intricate figures and landscapes. Aktau Mountains or so called White Mountains are very famous in the world as the paleontological field. Here you will find the layers of Paleogene lacustrine where the remains of ancient animals of the age of 25-30 million years have been found. Here is possible to find the remains of the giant rhinos, crocodiles, turtles. You will be impressed to see that the mountains are resemble the Egyptian pyramids due to the shapes and colors. Return to Altyn Emel hotel. Overnight is in the hotel.

Day 4: Altyn Emel - Charyn Canyon - Saty
In course of the Kazakhstan life: Tour 6 you will visit the Ash-tree Grove that can be found in the Temerlik River. As the botanists claim the age of these trees are over a thousand years. Later on you will drive to Charyn Canyon. In course of the tour you will learn that this prominent canyon is a natural complex that is known to be exceptional not only in Kazakhstan but in the world also. This wonderful sight was forms during Paleogene. Moreover Charyn Canyon resembles the Grand Canyon of Colorado River in North America but the size of it is smaller.   During the travel you will witness the picturesque beauty of the "Valley of Castles that was made due to the wind and water. While walking here you will be able to enjoy the fancy towers and columns. Departure to Saty village. Overnight is in a guest house.

Day 5: Saty - Kolsai lakes - Saty
Today you will head on to the Kolsai Lakes that is also known as the "Pearls of the Northern Tien-Shan". During the tour you will see the cascade of three lakes. You can easily reach the largest lake by the car. Here you will enjoy the lack of civilization and the abundance of mushrooms. Upon arrival you will have short instruction to start you hiking tour.  To reach the Kolsai Lake-2 you will go through the pine forest, alpine meadows along pure mountain river where you will enjoy its breathtaking view. The total walking distance between two lakes is about 7 km and usually takes 3-3,5 hours one way. The altitude of the largest lake is 1818 m above sea level while the second one is located on the elevation of 2250 m. The road is known to be not very difficult and can be easily reach the by average-trained people. Here you will see the breathtaking view of the area that is going to mesmerize you. In the afternoon we will walk back to Kolsai-3 Lake and driving back to Saty settlement. Arrival to the settlement. Overnight is in the guest house. 

Day 5: Saty - Kaindy Lake - Almaty
Today you will have a morning drive to Kaindy lake. This lake is also known as the birch lake that is located on the altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. This wonderful sight was formed in 1911 due to the earthquake that landslide blocked the valley by the natural dam, and the water has flooded the valley. Upon arrival you will enjoy the cold water and see the needles of the flooded trees that as the masts of the submarine squadron. It is impossible to describe in words all this mystical splendor of the lake - it is necessary to go there and see everything with own eyes.  After walking around the lake you will return to Almaty. Night is in a hotel.
